We are seeking an experienced Pro Late Model Set Up Mechanic to join our dedicated team and ensure our race cars are tuned and optimized for peak performance.

Job Summary:

The Pro Late Model Set Up Mechanic will be responsible for preparing, adjusting, and fine-tuning race cars to ensure optimal setup for every race. This role involves working closely with engineers, crew chiefs, and the driver to analyze data and implement precise mechanical adjustments to achieve the best handling, balance, and speed for each track and race condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Car Setup & Adjustment: Perform detailed adjustments to the suspension, chassis, and other vehicle systems based on the team’s race strategy and driver feedback. Ensure each Pro Late Model car is optimally set up for race day conditions, including adjusting shock settings, tire pressures, ride heights, and suspension geometry.
  • Data Analysis & Feedback: Work closely with engineers and the driver to interpret data from practice and testing sessions. Make real-time setup changes based on telemetry, driver feedback, and track conditions to improve car handling and performance.
  • Pre-Race Preparation: Ensure all vehicles are race-ready by performing comprehensive inspections and ensuring mechanical components such as suspension, steering, brakes, and tires are in perfect working order before each event.
  • Post-Race Evaluation: After each race, analyze the car’s performance, identify any mechanical issues or setup challenges, and recommend improvements for future events. Inspect the car for wear and tear, and prepare it for subsequent races or testing.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical issues related to car setup, suspension, handling, and performance. Conduct repairs or replacements of parts as needed to keep the car in peak condition throughout the season.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the team’s crew chief, engineers, and other mechanics to ensure the car’s setup aligns with overall race strategy. Work efficiently in a team environment, especially under the time constraints of race weekends.
  • Maintain Equipment & Tools: Ensure that all setup equipment, tools, and parts are well-maintained and in working order. Organize and manage spare parts and supplies, and ensure quick access to necessary components during race events.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest setup techniques, mechanical advancements, and technology in the racing industry. Continuously strive to improve the car's performance through research, experimentation, and adaptation of new practices.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1+ years of experience as a mechanic, with a focus on race car setup, particularly in Late Model or similar motorsports. Experience with suspension systems, chassis tuning, and performance analysis is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of the mechanical systems in Pro Late Model race cars, including suspension, steering, brakes, shocks, and drivetrains. Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and race car tuning is crucial.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and make precise adjustments to improve car performance. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to think quickly during race conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail when it comes to car inspections, setup adjustments, and ensuring the car is race-ready. Precision in mechanical work and setup changes is key.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding race environment, including lifting heavy parts, working in confined spaces, and making adjustments quickly during pit stops and practices.
  • Education: A background in automotive technology, motorsports engineering, or a related field is a plus, but practical experience is valued.
  • Flexibility & Availability: Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and long race days. Travel to race events and availability for race weekend duties is required.
  • Passion for Racing: A genuine passion for motorsports, with a deep understanding of the demands of Late Model racing.
